As yet unused new electric guitar...

Around mid-day, following the arrival of the last two CDs on order, the double CD best of/retrospective/re-recordings/live etc etc set from Italian fave Laura Pausini and a great disc by the Kronos Quartet, it was over to Loanhead to pick up my mum...

We were driving to Paisley - soundtracked, much to mum's delight, by Alice Cooper - to visit her old chum Pat...

Here are the ladies in action...

At 2, we left them to it and walked to Gilmour Street Station...

...past a wedding at the Town Hall...

...which sits next to the Abbey...

Onward...

...just in time for the 15 minute trip to Glasgow Central Station...

...not Gourock...

First stop was "Once Upon a Tart" - much enjoyed by the EP...

Soup and cupcake/coffee enjoyed...

...before we headed to shops each of us likes...

For me, that meant Mono (just round the corner from Tart), where discs by BADBADNOTGOOD & Ghostface Killah, Isle of Wight's The Champs, German/Dutch outfit Dÿse and Albanian/American Armand Margjeka were partaken of - the last three purely on speculation...

A walk back along to Union St and the main branch of Fopp...

...where a trawl was made through their £3 section looking for interesting stuff, reviews of which were checked out before buying - I took discs by Valgeir Sigurðsson and Ben Frost & Daníel Bjarnason due to their being on the Bedroom Community label, Easter, on the basis of an online review describing sounds I think I'd like (always a hit and miss affair) and Oren Ambarchi & Robin Fox, due to their being on the Kranky label...

To Missing and discs by The Revillos and David Sylvian rounded things off - the former a real rarity and the latter, the 2CD remaster update of the one disc version of "Gone to Earth", which was one of my first ever CD purchases back in 1985..

A walk up Buchanan Street to meet up with Anne...

Someone had the same idea as me photo wise...

A happy Anne had made a couple of acquisitions - the beast too was a happy man...

Coffee enjoyed, chat chatted, football scores noted (Queens off to a good start beating Count Brodski's Alloa 2-0)...

...and so back to the station...

...for the trip back to sunny Paisley...

...where some Ben Nicholson works are on display on a bus shelter, thanks to the Art Everywhere campaign...

A tasty salad from Pat for tea and loadsa pics on her iPad re a new great grandchild arrival in France...

At 7:30 we started thinking about heading home...

At 7:50 we hit the road - again accompanied by the Coop and, latterly, David Bowie - my mum recognised the changeover...

Home for her around nine and for us twenty minutes later...

"The Honourable Woman" enjoyed before a ripping and listening session re the new acquisitions rounded off the day...

Highlight of the Day : Trip West...
